Join Living Coasts for an exclusive marine-themed evening of talks, art displays and local conservation.

Meet local experts to learn more about the important eco-system and bio-diversity that lies beneath Torbay's beautiful waters.

Experience talks and displays whilst enjoying the amazing views from our Terrace Cafe.

Highlights include:

  • A talk by Dr. Paul Naylor - 'Marine Meadow Movie Stars; the amazing animals of our seagrass beds'. From spectacular cuttlefish to versatile crabs, the animals that live in our seagrass beds and the undersea plains and reefs nearby, are colourful in both the visual sense and in their fascinating behaviour. Paul will use underwater photographs and video to give an insight into their intriguing lives.

  • A talk by Duncan Kenny from The Torbay Seal Project - 'The relationship between humans and seals in a highly active environment'. This is as much about understanding people as it is about understanding grey seals. Learn about grey seals visiting the bay and what they do while they are here. Why we need to protect grey seals and manage the relationship between the fishers, visitors, residents and seals. Research, education, social development and animal welfare are the key themes.

  • Displays from Torbay Cleaner Coasts Initiative. The project partners aim to remove litter from the marine environment where practical and feasible, by organising ghost gear retrieval dives and coastal cleans in and around Torbay. We work towards enhancing knowledge and awareness of the problems of marine litter, taking  opportunities to engage with local communities. TCCI are always looking for volunteers – see the facebook page for events.

  • Displays from local artist Christine Saunders. "Local marine themed artwork with a “difference” -  in that my Mixed Media work includes recycled and re-purposed items found on local beaches and coastline in Torbay and beyond. Each Mixed Media piece is unique being a combination of natural and manmade flotsam and jetsam used to create an individual piece of artwork”
