Living Coasts co-ordinates the breeding programme for Inca terns and is on the management committee for the African penguin breeding programme. We are also involved in the breeding programmes for blue spotted ray and blue spotted stingray.

At present we have tremendous breeding success with the Inca terns, African penguins and rays on our site. We have excellent husbandry techniques which are shared with other collections Europe wide and the young birds are moved to other zoos within the network to maintain a stable and genetically diverse population.
In addition, staff at our sister zoos, Paignton Zoo and Newquay Zoo, co-ordinate the programmes of another twelve species.
