Beavers march for penguins

Beavers presenting cheque to penguins
7 October 2008

Over 100 Beaver Scouts raised money for Living Coasts earlier this year.

A total of £115.76p was raised for Living Coasts by over 100 Beaver Scouts from across Torbay earlier this year by walking Clennon Valley - the cheque was presented to the penguins by members of 6TH Torbay Beavers who organised the walk.

Living Coasts spokesperson Phil Knowling said: “It is great that young people have the enthusiasm and the commitment to do something like this for wildlife. They set a wonderful example.”

Torquay’s coastal zoo is home to nearly one hundred free-ranging penguins, as well as wading birds, sea ducks, fur seals and puffins. In addition, there is an underground mangrove forest with mudskippers, four-eyed fish, poisonous stingrays and horseshoe crabs.
