Mission Statement
Living Coasts is an education, scientific and conservation charity dedicated to protecting our global wildlife heritage and inspiring in people a respect for animals, plants and the environment.

Aim of volunteering role:
Living Coasts is Torquay’s Coastal Zoo and part of Whitley Wildlife Conservation Trust, as a charity we rely on volunteers to help raise awareness and support our conservation projects.

The objective of the volunteer role is to:
To make sure our visitors receive all the in support and information they require and to enhance their visit. You will be asked all sorts of questions, educational and directional. There is information available about the site and the animals from the education dept. The training is ongoing and full support will be given, you may be the only Living Coast representative they get to talk to during their visit.

Tasks:
1. To talk to our visitors
2. To promote Living Coasts
3. To provide correct and current information
4. To notify staff of any issues

Time: Weekends and weekdays.
Most volunteers offer a day per week and generally start at 10.30 and finish approximately 2pm in the winter and 3pm in the summer. This will be discussed at your informal interview.

Place of duty: In and out doors on site

Department Manager: Exhibit Manager

Transport: None provided

Materials required: You will be provided with a polo and sweatshirt with a small deposit of £5.00 per item required at your induction. You will need comfortable footwear as there is a lot of standing

Any health and safety requirements: Must read fire and escaped animal procedure
