Egg-citing News!
After all my hard work over the last few weeks, supervising the sand dredging, it is finally finished. But, I’m not the only one who has been busy. My Mum, Dad, Brother Jamie and his partner Phoebe have too. (click title to read more)
About three months ago they all started collecting twigs, Dad would bring them home and Mum would start arranging them at the back of the burrow. I offered to help but Mum was fussing over them so I left her to it and went round to Jamie’s burrow and he and Phoebe were doing the same! Then they have been taking it in turns sitting on the eggs that Mum and Phoebe laid.
I started asking Mum every day if the egg had hatched but she told me to be patient as it would take about 40 days. Then one morning there was a “crack” and then a “cheep cheep” then Mum shouted “it’s hatched!”. I ran round to tell Jamie and Phoebe and theirs had hatched too.
Mum told me not to say if the chicks are boys or girls as we know how much fun the keepers have trying to guess. They are both very lucky to have me as their Brother or Uncle. Why don’t you pop down to Penguin Beach to see me over Easter, if you are lucky you might get to see the chicks too. I will be spending most of my time searching for hidden eggs around site, if I find a golden one I could get to feed some of the other animals!
See you soon
