There has been a lot going on at penguin beach over the last week. There have been lots of people and lots of noise, but what have they been doing? (click the title to read more.)

Last week we had a group of people digging our beach and turning the sand over. We had great fun running over the soft sand when they stopped for their tea break.
As if that wasn’t enough excitement for one week, I had popped back to my burrow for a late morning nap, when this growling noise started. The growling continued and then there was a loud splash.

Well I couldn’t sleep with lots going on so I went to investigate. On the beach were some very long hoses, and I saw what had made the big splash, there was a diver in the pool. He was holding on to one end of the hose and two keepers were holding the other end and a big bag. I wasn’t sure what they were doing so I thought I would take a closer look. I went to the edge of the water and the diver dived, so I followed him down to the bottom of the penguin pool. He was using the big hose on the bottom of the pool where there is lots of sand, and it started to disappear.

Back on the beach where the keepers were lots of water and sand was coming out of the hose and into the bag, the water was pouring out of the bag and the sand was staying in the bag. The keepers were then emptying the sand back onto the beach. I think I am going to supervise the work and make sure they do a good job.
