Happy New Year! There have been lots of parties going on this year already at Penguin Beach, mainly in the Macaroni area.(Click the link to read more.)

I asked Pat, the oldest penguin, what it was all about. She said that so far this year seven of the Macaroni penguins have had their eighteenth birthdays, two of them were on the 11th January.

I’ve been thinking of growing some yellow hair like the Macaroni’s have on top of their heads, but I’m not sure how to do it. I asked some of my friends and they just laughed at me. They told me that African penguins don’t have crests .Apparently there are seventeen types of penguins and only six types can grow hair or crests as they are called.

I don’t care anyway because I’ve decided that my spots and stripe on my chest are much more attractive. Maybe this year I can start looking for a girlfriend!
