Three days ago I was enjoying the beautiful sunshine here on the English Riviera. Two days ago I was basking in the heat on our beach. Yesterday I was thinking “whoa, this is ace!” Now today, I am very wet.

Being an African penguin loving the sunshine is in my blood, and all the talk of a heat wave didn’t worry me – but now it has tipped it down all day and I am beginning to think that summer has been and gone.

The Macaroni penguins are pleased, they like the cool weather. When it is hot our keepers have to turn on a special fan that sprays water all over them to keep them cool. The baby Macaroni penguins look a bit bedraggled though; I’m not sure how much they like all this rain!

Please keep your fingers crossed that the sun puts his hat back on soon and comes out to play, although, why would the sun need a hat?
